Sell gift vouchers
Sell vouchers with a money amount, on your website, at the box office and as printed cards in your shop, that guests spend on tickets.
Last checked 29 October 2026
Where to find it: Tickets → Gift vouchers, or console.parkstack.net/tickets/gift-vouchers.
Before you start: only owners can switch vouchers on and see the list of vouchers sold. Anyone who uses the box office can sell a voucher and take one as payment. Guests can buy vouchers on your website only while it sells tickets online.
Switch gift vouchers on
- Open Tickets and choose Gift vouchers.
- Tick Sell gift vouchers.
- Under Amounts to choose from, set up to six amounts. Choose Add an amount for another.
- Leave Let buyers choose their own amount (£5 to £500) ticked if guests may pick any amount.
- Choose How long a voucher lasts. 12 months is usual. The last day is printed on every voucher.
- Choose Save.
Your website then has a gift voucher page, linked from the ticket shop. Make sure your ticket terms cover vouchers.
How guests buy one online
Guests choose an amount, give their name and email, and choose To me, to print or pass on or Straight to the person it is for. For someone else, they can add a message and pick a day to send it, such as Christmas morning. They pay by card through Stripe, the same as tickets. The voucher arrives by email with its code, and a buyer sending it to someone else gets a receipt.
Sell a voucher at the box office
- In the box office, choose Sell a gift voucher.
- Choose the amount, and whether it was paid by Cash or Card machine.
- Add who it is for and a message if you like, and the buyer's email to send it.
- Take the money, then choose the button to sell the voucher.
- Choose Print voucher to give the buyer a printed copy, or write the code down for them.
Sell gift cards in your shop
If your shop uses its own till, you can sell printed gift cards there. A card has no value until a member of staff activates it on the Scanner, so blank cards are worth nothing if they are lost.
- Under Printed gift cards, tick Let the Scanner activate gift cards.
- Give the batch a name, choose the Number of cards and choose Make cards.
- Choose Print cards to print them in your park's colours, ten to an A4 sheet, or Download codes to send the codes to your own printer.
Use your own design
Cards print in your main colour with your logo unless you choose your own design. Choose Use your own design under Printed gift cards, then Your own design.
- Under Picture, choose Upload a picture or Choose from Photos & files, then crop it to the card. Without a picture, the card uses your main colour.
- Under Code and QR code, choose the corner for the code. It sits on a white panel so the Scanner can always read it.
- Under Logo and name, choose where they go, or Do not show them. They always go on the other edge from the code, so the two never overlap. Choose whether to show the Logo, Park name and “Gift card”, the colour of the Lettering, and whether to add a shade behind them on a busy picture.
- Choose Save design.
The preview shows a card with an example code. Every batch prints with the design you save, including batches made earlier. Choose Standard design to go back.
When a guest buys a card in the shop:
- Take the money on your shop's till.
- On the Scanner, choose Activate a gift card, then Scan gift card, or type the code printed on it.
- Choose the amount and whether they paid by Cash or Card machine. You can add the buyer's email so a copy is sent, in case the card is lost.
- Choose the button to activate it. The card can then be spent like any voucher.
If you activate the wrong card or amount, choose Undo activation. This works only on the same day, before anything has been spent, and only for the person who activated it or an owner. After that, use Cancel and refund.
If a box of cards goes missing, choose Withdraw unused on its batch. Those cards can never be activated. Cards already sold keep working.
Cards activated on the Scanner count in Today’s takings at the box office, under the payment method and the person who activated them.
Taking a voucher as payment
On your website, guests choose Have a gift voucher? under their order and type the code. At the box office, choose Gift voucher in the order and type the code, then Apply.
The voucher pays as much of the order as it can. The guest pays any rest by card or cash, and whatever is not spent stays on the voucher for next time. If the voucher pays it all, choose Complete the sale.
Refunds
When you refund an order paid with a voucher, the voucher's part goes back onto the voucher first. Only the rest goes back to the card, or is given back in cash. The guest's refund email says so.
Look up, send again or cancel a voucher
The list under Vouchers sold shows each voucher with what is left on it. Search by code, name or email. Choose a voucher to see who bought it, what it has been spent on and when it expires.
- Send it again emails the voucher again. You can correct the email address first.
- Cancel and refund cancels the voucher and refunds what is left on it. Vouchers bought online are refunded to the buyer's card through Stripe. For cash or card machine vouchers, give the money back first, then record it.
Your accounts and takings
Money for vouchers is taken when they are sold. Spending a voucher on tickets brings in no new money. So Today’s takings at the box office counts vouchers sold in the cash or card machine figures, and shows tickets paid with vouchers on their own line. The Accounts export shows vouchers sold separately from ticket sales: VAT is due when a voucher is spent on tickets, not when it is sold.
